I was so excited to visit Ashley and her husband’s new restaurant, Karmah, located on Kerr Street in Oakville. I knew Ashley through yoga as she had taken classes at my studio. When we closed our restaurant, we were so lucky to have some of our stuff find a new, loving home in her place.  Ashley had been dreaming about opening her own restaurant for a while and you can see her love and passion for décor, healthy food and juices in this place. This dynamic team put an amazing spin on plant-based food – quick service, vegan food, while keeping the food scrumptious and nutritious.

As I approached the restaurant, there were some cute chairs and tables outside (being spring). The décor inside was spacious, clean, and very well organized. Everything has been thoughtfully placed to create a beautiful, relaxing atmosphere.

I was greeted with the warmest smiles from Ashley and her husband. If you look at their picture, they are shining examples of a plant-based lifestyle (their are eyes vibrant and their skin is glowing). When I asked her what her secret was for being so full of energy, especially after just opening a restaurant and working long hours, she said drinking lots of juices.

Walking in, on the left you will find some specially made items for the day, and a wide selection of yummy desserts, and on the right you will find ready-made (pre-packaged items).

Here is just a small selection of some of their items (Full Menu):

  • Beet
  • Kale
  • Carrot

  • Blueberry
  • Raw Cocoa

Nut milks:

  • Vanilla
  • Chocolate
  • Strawberry – I got this one and it was so fresh and delicious!
  • Coffee

Scrumptious Bowls

  • Kale Caesar
  • Taco Salad
  • Quinoa Power Bowl
  • Falafel Bowl

  • Raw Chocolate Caramel Tart with Orange Zest & Fleur de Sel
  • Goji Berry & Hazelnut Cacao Truffles
  • Fudge Brownies topped with Chocolate Ganache & Raw Walnuts
  • Cupcakes – Red Velvet, White, Chocolate, Raw Vanilla Bean – each with a creamy, delicious frosting
  • Raw Chocolate Hazelnut Cheesecake

They also sell hot beverages such a tea, coffee and even lattes.

Keeping with the ready-to-go feel, I took my food to go. I got their open faced sandwich (which was so delicious – I devoured that). I got their Kale Caesar Salad filled with healthy vegan bacon, for next day’s lunch!

And their desserts were amazing. I got their cheesecake (I think it was Vanilla) and I loved eating my dessert out of a class jar. I also got their chocolate fudge brownie. Yep, the desserts didn’t last long at all.
